Baby Got Back

Memory

There are people missing that I wish were here,
In all of our hearts they are very dear.
My great-grandma Helen I never did meet,
But she raised my grandma, and that’s pretty neat.
Now grandma I knew that would make you cry,
So I brought you something to keep your eyes dry. (Hand her tissue)
Every story I hear from my mom makes me wish,
That getting to know her I did not miss.
Grandma Bulter just recently left us as well,
There are stories about her that we all will tell.
There were fun times together over the years,
Thinking about them now can bring about tears.
I was lucky to have her as long as I did,
Being with her made me feel like a real lucky kid.
Big momma and papa, they were called by all,
What I remember most was a great meatball.
This thing that we call the circle of life,
Brings us here together tonight for some fun nightlife.

Papa Ben

You are the grand daddy, or great-grand daddy,
I really should say, Who came here to see me from far away.
You are a man I admire for many reasons,
And the only one here who has seen 376 seasons.
Too bad I don’t live where it always is sunny,
I’m still young enough to think your jokes are funny.
Come winter, come spring or summer or fall,
I love you through the years, one and all.
Thank you for coming here away from the sun,
Papa Ben please come up and light candle number 1.

Grandma & Papa

You were the first one to hold me the day I was born,
And every day since is still the norm.
When I’m in the doghouse I dial your number,
And somehow it’s mom then who’s getting in trouble.
You listen to me when I tell you things,
And I know you’ll always be there whatever life brings.
Our golfing together sure has progressed,
And now I can put your skills to the test.
We make chocolate, watch TV and then I sleep over,
I wiped up at camp ‘cause you taught me poker.
The thing that makes every holiday dinner,
Is the matzoh ball soup, and you are the winner.
Now grandma I know this might make you cry,
But I have one question, who’s your special guy?
I cannot imagine what I’d do without you,
Grandma and papa please come light candle number 2.

Papa Bulter

You rock all the babies so they don’t cry,
Even with Stephanie you gave it a try.
To the kids you are special, to the grown ups too,
How much you care shows in all that you do.
When I come over, you make me special drinks,
It means an awful lot to me, I really do think.
Playing pool in your basement sure is fun,
Some day I might even be able to beat your son.
Thank you for being such a great papa to me,
Papa Bulter please come up and light candle number 3.

Uncle Steve & Aunt Jill, Aunt Irene & Uncle Kirk

I have an aunt and uncle who live very far away,
But they traveled the miles to be here today.
They never forget me on any special day,
It is awesome and I hope I grow up to be that way.
I have been spoiled for years by the best apple pie,
To have an aunt so special makes me a lucky guy.
My uncle is an incredible spouse,
And I thank you for letting the pies out of the house.
My cousins are patient for presents they wait,
Because my parents always send them too late.
Please save me some time tonight on the dance floor,
Uncle Steve, Aunt Jill, Aunt Irene, Uncle Kirk, Ryan, Jacob,
Carrie and Sara please come light candle number 4.

Uncle Jimmy, Aunt Linda, Karin, Jon and Rob

To come from so far as the wild southwest,
Is very, very special and that is no jest.
The trips I took to Phoenix all those times to visit you,
Were all a lot of fun, remember going to the zoo?
The wedding I remember, doesn’t seem so far away,
And now you have a baby, too bad you all can’t stay.
My cousin is great, to be here today,
His new job as a lawyer he did delay.
We have something in common, that’s the goal I have set,
To be a doctor just like you is as good as it could get.
Thank goodness for my aunt who sends messages on-line,
To keep us in the loop of things is really very fine.
I wish we were together every day I’m alive,
Uncle Jimmy, Aunt Linda, Karin, Jon, Jordan and Rob please come light candle number 5.

Aunts & Uncles & Cousins

My aunts and uncles are surely the best,
I will put them up against all of the rest.
They came here tonight from far and from near,
Every single one of them is very dear.
I am lucky to have so many great cousins,
If they could all be like you, I’d take dozens.
On my dad’s side it will take a while to list them all,
My mom’s side is smaller, but we still have a ball.
I hope you all know that I mean what I say,
Aunt Sharon, Aunt Sue, Uncle Eddie, Aunt Laurie, Uncle Paul, Aunt Laurie, Uncle Ray,
Karim, Patrick, Frankie, Danny, Mitchell, Justin, Matt, Katie, Meghan
Please come up and light candle number 6.

Sharon & Bruce

My mom and dad’s friends are true blue as they come,
One thing is for sure they know how to have fun.
Round the world they do travel and do all kinds of things,
From John Cougar, to Shakespeare to the homes of the kings.
3 continents they’ve been to, 4 more to go,
They may miss Antarctica, just too much snow.
You’ve been part of my life since before I was born,
Our families have become like one, which cannot be torn.
The memories are many, all happy and funny,
And the cookies we decorate are good in my tummy.
You mean so much to all of us, you were sent here from heaven,
Sharon and Bruce please come light candle number 7.

Jaime & Dan

My mom is a good judge of character I’d say,
And lucky for me those great friends always stay.
We got to see each other a lot while you studied for your test,
And I always thought that you were the best.
You knew of the ups and downs from each day,
And you always knew just the right thing to say.
No matter where you work or live, even if we’re apart,
You will always be part of my life and have a warm place in my heart.
Another really fun thing is a way too cool guy,
Who will be able to tell me stories about the FBI.
We’re all here together and I think it’s great,
Jaime and Dan please come light candle number 8.

Friedmans

I’ve known these guys a long time and they’re swell,
There’s a daycare story that they love to tell.
We had our fourth birthday party together, who knew?
That our parents would be friends this long, us too.
Sometimes they play tennis, but most times they don’t,
One thing is for sure being boring they won’t.
From babies at daycare to Sunday school,
The good times at camp and the tennis club pool.
We traveled together to a place called Big City,
When we are together we are very witty.
You are friends of my parents and also of mine,
Will the Friedman’s please come light candle number 9.

Barb & Mike

The first time I met you, I was just a tot,
Being with you now is something I really like a lot.
We were on a trip together, when I caught my first fish,
To go back there again with you is something I do wish.
I’ve heard about a place you went, and a guy called Doug,
A really rustic hideaway with a fancy hot tub.
On New Year’s and the super bowl, we stayed up very late,
The parties at your house are always first rate.
For the times we spend together, you are special friends,
Barb and Mike please come light candle number 10.

Grandma & Papa Friends

There are some people here who go back a long way,
With my grandma and papa through the years they did stay.
They have known my mom since she was a baby,
That wasn’t that long ago, you all believe that maybe?
We have shared many meals at the good old Char Broil,
We are all there so much the food could never spoil.
We’ve had sedars and other holidays together,
They buy the stuff I sell for my sports teams forever
Such great friends who can last through the years are from heaven,
Eldene, Sid, Barabara, Jack, Ida, Babs and Sue please come light candle number 11.

Friends

I am lucky as anyone could ever be,
To have such great friends here tonight with me.
Some are from school, some from Temple or camp,
One thing is for sure every one is a champ.
So all of my friends at the table Uranus,
I am so happy you all decided to join us.
The times we have had I never would shelve,
All of my friends please come light candle number 12

Stephanie

I have told you before and I really do mean it,
I love you very much and I never will quit.
Now you’re getting older and I am too,
My job will get harder from the boys I will protect you.
You’re a cheerleader now and wow what a smile,
You light up the crowd for more than a mile.
I hope that you stay just the way that you are,
I’m the luckiest of all brothers by far.
You’re good looking, and funny, and smart as a bee,
Holy cow I just realized, you’re just like me.
I am glad you’re my sister, a better one can’t be seen,
Stephanie please come light candle number 13.

Mom & Dad

Two people I love with all of my heart,
Most things that they tell me are very smart.
(There was a better word to rhyme with heart,
but I didn’t think it would go over very big with my mom).
I want to make sure there is no mistake,
The bond that we have will never break.
The person I’m becoming is all due to you,
I know, I know, I’ll be a good jew.
Your gentle suggestions to study my Torah,
Were worth it tonight as we danced the hora.
Mom and dad even though I am now a teen,
I really do think you are both very keen,
Please come up and light candle number 14.
