I was three when you were born and I thought you were really neat

It was having a little sister that made our family so complete

You have many talents (that you’re a faster reader we will keep to ourselves)

It’s hard to believe your old enough to have grown so tall

Where did the baby go who could not walk or talk at all?

Now you have grown into a teen and become more responsible

Making your own lunch or dinner has become a bit more possible

This past year you have worked hard on your Bar Mitzvah preparations

And have even overcome some difficult complications

We’re so proud of the person you’ve become so far

And look forward to your future, but maybe not when you can drive a car

We love you so very much even though you are a teen

Now we’re done just as soon as you light candle number fourteen.
